New Surface for sale and new problems for Microsoft , this time bound  Surface Book 2 , the most interesting model in recent years thanks to the incorporation of a Coffee Lake Intel Core i7-8650U processor with 4 cores and 8 processing threads that can accompany of a GeForce GTX 1060 or GeForce GTX 1050 to give life to its screen of 13.5 / 15.3 inches of high resolution, until here everything well under paper, but in practice we have several important problems .

The first of all is that the Core i7-8650U , with a moderate TDP of 25W, seems to be too high for the cooling system used by Microsoft , since when it is used intensively it generates a strong Throttling , or otherwise, it overheats to the point that to avoid problems it slows down to consume less energy and thus heat up less, which implies a loss of performance greater than 25 percent .

Other problems are linked to the battery, where they indicate that the 15-inch model, with the GeForce GTX 1060, indicates that the battery is consumed faster than it can be recharged. The used charger is of 102W, while the equipment consumes about 150W in applications with an intense use of the CPU + GPU like the games, this means that it is not a team designed to play for a couple of hours, since the system is it would turn off in the middle of the game, a game that will also lose performance since the GeForce GTX 1060 eventually reduces the frequency of the core @ 1.00 GHz to reduce energy consumption at the expense of reducing performance.

The last problem is linked to the 13.5 “ model, which uses the same Panasonic MEI96A2 IPS panel used in the first generation of the Surface Book and which is presenting a serious Ghosting problem due to its high response time. The time is still unknown, but it is even worse compared to the Surface Book Original panel, which already had a latency of 21ms, quite high for fast-moving games.

Undoubtedly, Microsoft has several problems on the front with the Surface Book 2, two of them easy to solve by reducing the power of the processor and the graphics card , while the panel is somewhat more complicated to solve. Obviously, with the cost presented by this device should not have any problem. To make matters worse, iFixit has scored with a rating of 1 out of 10 possible in regards to the ease of repairing the device by our own means.
